Salt Spring Gymnastics 

Spring session runs from January to the end of April. Registration is ongoing in January, parents are invited to come and check out the gym and classes Wednesday and Thursday after school and all day Fridays to see if gymnastics might be right for your child. Funding for Gymnastics is available for eligible families. Friday Adventure Camps Age 6-12 

Every Friday school is not in session.

Runs 8:30-3:30 in the Portlock Park Portable Classroom.

$34/day

Stay active this winter at this Friday Adventure camp! These action-packed days will include different activities, games, crafts, sports, visitors and expeditions. There will be a trip to the library and swimming pool on the 3rd camp day of the month. Campers 5 years of age who have completed Kindergarten can register.


Spring Break Adventure Camp Age 6-12

March 20-24 and 27-31

Runs 8:30-3:30 in the Salt Spring Elementary School Gym

$150/week

School’s out! Stay active over the break in the Spring Break Adventure Camp. Each week will include new games and activities, sports, crafts and swimming. No matter what your age, there will be opportunities for learning, mentoring and making new friends! Children 5 years old who have completed Kindergarten are able to register.


StoryWalk®

The 3rd Friday of the Month (Jan 20Feb 17Mar 17Apr 21)

StoryWalk is an exciting program designed to bring literacy and the outdoors together for both children and adults to enjoy. On the third Friday of every month, between 10am and 6pm, follow a story from the Library, through Mouat Park, to the Rainbow Road Pool. Each month a new book will be introduced along

with a special activity or author. School groups and daycares are welcome; please contact Children’s Librarian Nikky McCarvill at nmccarvill@saltspringlibrary.com if your group will be attending. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration the Kellogg

Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson. This self-led program is brought to you by Salt Spring Island Parks and Recreation and the Salt Spring Island Public Library.

 

LEARN TO MAKE BEADED BRACELETS 8 yrs+

Sunday March  5th , 10am – 12pm  

$30

Enjoy learning two different bracelet designs with the beads, seeds and gemstones of your choice. Family friendly. Materials included.

LEARN TO MAKE EARRINGS 8 yrs+

Sunday March 12th, 10am – 12pm

$30

Make your own feather or crystal earrings. These can make a fun, creative gift for yourself or others. Materials included.

BABYSITTING SAFETY 11-15 yrs

Saturday April 1st & 8th10am-2pm

$64

This course is designed for youth 11 years and older who want to become a certified babysitter. The Red Cross Babysitting Course covers the responsibilities of a babysitting for children of various ages, basic first aid, safety tips, basic child care skills and what to do in an emergency. Get certified today!

New PARC Program!

Friday Adventure Camp every Friday school is not in session. It will run out of the Salt Spring Elementary School Gym with a few exceptions in November when it will be held in the Portlock Park Portable Classroom. Drop off is 8:30-9am and pick up is between 3:15-3:30pm. The children will participate in different games, crafts and outdoor activities that relate to that week’s theme. They will also enjoy an hour of swimming at the Rainbow Road Indoor Pool. The cost of this program is $34/day.

Pre-registration is necessary, call the CRD/PARC office to register, 250-537-4448



Youth Programs at the Library

Youth Writing Group - the first Thursday of every month 3:30 to 5:00 in the teen room. For ages 9-13. No registration is required.

Youth Book Club – the second and fourth Thursday of each month 3:30 to 5:00. For ages 10-14. Run by Marsha and Cathy

Friday Games Night- 6:00pm, in the Library Program Room. Free, open to all ages and no registration is required.
