Attendance

All visitors and any students arriving after the bell or leaving school before the end of day are asked to sign in/out at the administration desk.

Regular attendance has a positive impact on student achievement, engagement and connection to the school community. Salt Spring Elementary participates in the Safe Arrival Program. Calls will be made home for any student not present when the attendance is taken each day.

If you are keeping your child home due to illness or they will be away for other reasons, please leave a voice message at 250-537-9928 at any time with date and reason for the absence. Maintaining attendance records is a ministry-mandated, legal responsibility. Ensuring that students’ attendance records are accurate involves input on several levels. SSE believes that student attendance is a shared responsibility for students, parents/guardians, teachers and school administrators.

Volunteering at SSE

All volunteers need to complete a Criminal Records Check, which can be found here.

Volunteer Drivers need to complete a Drivers Abstract from ICBC and submit it, and a copy of their drivers license and insurance to the school. Please select the 5 year option. The link to complete the Abstract can be found here.
